New York Giants
By Isaac E

This preseason in three preseason games New York Giants first-round pick Daniel Jones has a 140.1 quarterback rating. Jones who surprised many by his selection sixth overall in April’s draft is 25 for 30 with 369 yards, two touchdowns, and 0 interceptions.

This performance silenced his and critics of the Giants pick, but will not unseat two-time Super Bowl MVP and champion Eli Manning. However, Manning seat is hot, and the clamoring for Jones will begin an earnest if the Giants get off to a slow start.

Giants Current State

The Giants high hopes for last year crashed faster than the New York Stock market. The team started the season 1-7 plagued with issues protecting Manning, team chemistry issues, and slow adoption to new head Pat Shurmur. The Giants ended the season 4-4.

The team decided to address their issues with drastic decisions that changed the face of the team now and going forward. The Giants traded star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns. The Giants received safety Jabrill Peppers and a first and third-round pick in return.

The Giants in a separate trade moved Olivier Vernon to the Browns for talented guard Kevin Zeitler. The team allowed the leader of the secondary Landon Collins to sign with the rival Washington Redskins in free agency. The team along with Jones drafted Clemson star defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence.

The defense is young and will need to gel as the season progresses. The offense highlighted by the game-breaking talent of Saquon Barkley will need him to carry the team. Barkley averaged 5 yards per attempt last season finishing with 1,307 yards and Rookie of the Year honors. The Giants acquired veteran Golden Tate in free agency. Tate will deal with a four-game suspension to start the season.

Giants Prediction

The Giants reaching their projected win total of six will depend on whether the team will have a better second half than first. The team will likely struggle in the second half as Manning will eventual replacement by Jones will happen during the season. The Giants will probably finish in the bottom half of the division, and under six wins.
