R. J. Barrett by the Numbers
The New York Knicks drafted R.J. Barrett on Thursday night with the third overall selection in the NBA Draft. Barrett only played one year at Duke, but the Canadian national is looking to help turn around the Knicks.
The Knicks are the most valuable franchise in the NBA. Forbes estimates the franchise is worth $4 billion have not won the NBA Championship since 1973.
Barrett in 38 games averaged 22.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. Barrett shot 45% from the field and only 31% from the three-point line. Barrett will need to improve in both areas as he enters the NBA.
Barrett stands 6 feet, 7 inches, and weighs 200 pounds. Barrett has a strong work ethic and determined to excel in New York.
Barrett becomes a star in New York overnight similar to Patrick Ewing. Barrett and Ewing have something else in common as both come from Jamaican parents as R.J.’s parents are from Jamaica and raised him in Canada.
